Mara has a post:   I had what I thought would be a enjoyable and easy job using skills that had not been exercised in awhile. A faux painting job on a beautiful simple case that needed a new base to elevate it higher and take out a sag in the middle.  I was excited by it and the client really loved what I did on an old  filing cabinet rescued from under the airport that got a very subtle deep red treatment.  The client wanted teal and...

The cabinet job, which for various reasons took over twice as long as anticipated, is coming to a close. Here are a few shots of the ongoing installation, minus the custom top which should be installed shortly as well as the lighting and other final touches. Arthur Gomez of Volume Studio has taken a tiny office space and made it into a very functional and compact office space as well as utilizing an ingenious cable chase to make all...

The question was asked: “Do you do tubs?” Answer: “OK.”   So, here is an old 'take out” bathtub made of cultured marble, which is basically marble dust and resin. It's discolored over the years to a familiar but unsavory yellow. Mara has gone thru the...

In the restoration shop. This is a 60's vintage Eames Model 670 lounge chair. It's been in continuous production for over 50 years although a torrent of knock-offs began from almost the day it was introduced. Vintage models with the original Rosewood sell for up to $7,000, and new ones between $4500.00- $9000.00.   This one is not in the best of shape, at some point the base was broken and a leg was re-welded. it's a nice...
